New Dominican airline gets first plane

SANTO DOMINGO.-The new carrier Air Dominicana will begin operations May 2, with its fleet’s first airplane ready; a 737-A, already identified with the Dominican flag’s colors, red, white and blue.

Newspaper Diario Libre reports that the Dominican State’s share in the new airline of US$10 million initial capital is 40 percent, and the Spanish capital is 32 percent.

The cost of the airplane is 60 million dollars and has a range of eight hours of flight.

The airline will begin flights from Punta Cana International Airport (east), considered the Caribbean region’s top tourism destination
