Punta Cana International Airport, PUJ, remains one of the busiest airports by volume in the Caribbean. In 2014 alone, the Punta Cana Airport accounted for 60% of the arrivals in the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana International Airport is actually a privately owned commercial airport (one of the few in the world) and still retains an “open air” Caribbean feel – with tropical breezeways and thatched “cana style” roof. Additionally, in 2014, Punta Cana Airport opened its’ second terminal – designed to accommodate an additional 6,500 daily passengers. Further technical information including airline information is easily accessible via their Wikipedia Page.
The airport has just released its’ new website – The Official Website of Punta Cana International Airport. This website (beware if you’re a mobile device user, as it does use a lot of bandwidth with its’ video backgrounds) all of the flight information (arrivals and departures into this part of the Dominican Republic) as well as Airport Services, the PUJ App, a Travel Booking engine, a list of some Punta Cana Hotels, Punta Cana Weather service, and much more. You may also visit their homepage to download the Airport Fact Sheet as well as the PCIA Technical Data Fact Sheet.
